I was challenged this week to imagine planting a seed and visualize how it grows into my favorite flower. I took a slightly different approach. I imagined planting a tomato seed.
Since I am a gardener and the smell of a tomato vine is one of my favorite summer fragrances (along with fresh cut grass), and I have grown many tomato plants from seeds, I thought it would be fun to visualize this.
Actually, it turned out to be part remembering and part imagination. It was delightful imagining the plant sprouting and growing beneath the soil. Imagining it growing above the ground is something I have experienced in real life.
But the whole point was to ponder what a wonderful gift of the imagination that God has given us. Scripture teaches us that we are created in the image of the Creator. That means we, too, are designed to create—first in faith, then in action.
Long before a house is built, it is imagined. Before a business is launched, it is imagined. Before healing takes place, before provision arrives, before purpose is activated—it is first seen in the spirit.
Too often, we are told to “be realistic,” when God calls us to live by faith. Faith always starts with vision. Imagination allows you to see beyond your present circumstances and into God’s promises for your future.
When you imagine yourself whole, restored, confident, and walking boldly in purpose, you begin to align with heaven’s blueprint for your life.
The mind responds to what it believes is true. When you consistently meditate on God’s promises and visualize what He has shown you, your thoughts shift. Your faith deepens. Your courage increases. And your actions begin to follow the vision.
When you intentionally use your imagination in partnership with God, you move with clarity. You speak with authority. You act with purpose. You begin becoming the very person God already saw when He formed you.
Your imagination is not escaping reality—it is helping you step into God’s reality for your life.
So dare to imagine boldly. Pray boldly. Visualize boldly. Trust boldly. What God reveals to you in your spirit is often the preview of what He is preparing to manifest in your life.
What you consistently imagine with faith, you eventually live. I am using my imagination now to create my dream life. Why not give yourself the gift of your dream?

Great use of your imagination. You’re really creating a beautiful life.
Ertulia, you are God’s dream in reality ❤️, so of course the only right path is to live your own dream! Thank you for your beautiful words.
And yes, I also love tomatoes; our whole balcony was full of my husband’s home-grown plants, and they tasted wonderful.
Etrulia — I love how you embraced imagination and your beautiful examples. Thank you for sharing.
Such a great exercise to focus on our imagination. I am so glad to hear you embraced it with such Joy! I can smell the tomatoe vines already. What a fantastic visualization.
“This is such a powerful and necessary reframing of imagination. You’ve articulated so beautifully that it’s not about escapism, but about co-creating with God. The line, ‘Your imagination is not escaping reality—it is helping you step into God’s reality for your life,’ is a truth I will carry with me. Thank you for this profound reminder to build in the spirit first.”
