The challenge of the cement is when you realize that your attachment to it is all about ego. In the context of conversation, the idea of conversion of a point of view has to fight the ego. The ego is the real cement.

If I challenge you to “prove me wrong” in the the context of business or politics or how to execute a recipe…I have to get past the idea that you have about being right.

Even when supposedly “trying” to see my point of view…if you haven’t given up the idea that every potential obstacle proves your point…you will never be able to finish the true experiment.

I know that I have used the first person here a lot, but, I use it as a way to examine my own behavior relative to my own goals. For years, I have been “wanting’ to prove that my Network Marketing Business is the answer to retirement issues, health care issues, and joy in life issues.

My progress has been hindered at the start by people who help me “stay where I am” because it is easier to prove me right…”stay with my cement” than to step out of the boat and walk on the water.

That metaphor is pretty extreme but I don’t profess to be all powerful so to change the laws of physics, but it shows the power of the cement. The power of the ego. The power of not knowing what I really do know.

The charting of daily activities…not new to me. I am sure that I have seen it before in Grow 90 Grow as well as in other plans. That damn cement. It is really strong. It is really thick. It is going to take work. The kind of work that takes faith in my purpose.

I have recorded my DMP read enthusiastically and the musical score that I chose in the background comes from the Rocky Movie Soundtrack. One of the titles is Go the Distance!

It begins with chimes, builds in intensity and ends with chimes of victory. It’s going to take awhile to get through all the cement. It is going to take a commitment. A commitment to going the distance.

  • I love your insight Michael!! You said, “My progress has been hindered at the start by people who help me “stay where I am” because it is easier to prove me right…”stay with my cement” than to step out of the boat and walk on the water.”
I have felt the need to step out of the boat for a long time, however listening to those people in the past has kept me from walking on the water. It has also kept me from moving forward into doing the most with what I have been called to do.

  • Michael, I appreciate your insight into ego as “cement”. The definition of ego is “a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance”. I believe that to change you let something die to become something else. Maybe the cement is letting one belief (ego) die to accept another. What if my cement is the belief that it will take a while? What if I believed the cement fell off as I heard the chimes? Thanks for your thoughtful insight.

  • “Powerful metaphor, Michael! 🙌 That cement is real—but so is your commitment to breaking through it. Keep going! 💪🔥”

  • Well done, Michael – I love your analogies here. And now I have those songs in my head! Maybe they can work on my cement a bit, too:)
