Blisters on the Hands and Clarity in the Mind
No elite athlete reaches their goal without training and that training happens on three levels:
Physical: strength, endurance, technique
Emotional: handling pressure and setbacks
Mental: focus, clarity of goals, self-leadership
What impresses me most is the structure.
Every week, the athletes define their SMART goals and review them with their coach. Goal-setting is not a one-time intention it is a weekly process.
I see teamwork.
Respect.
Perseverance.
Enthusiasm.
And yes, I see blisters on their hands.
But I also see focus and commitment. No complaining just training. No wishful thinking just implementation.
Elite sport shows me this:
Success is not motivation, success is structure plus mindset.
And that is where the greatest learning opportunity lies not only for young athletes, but for all of us.

“This is MKE in action, Dorothea! Physical, emotional, mental—the three levels of training apply to all of us. No complaining, just implementation. Love it!
Totally agree with you.
You are recognising the steps required and walking the walk with your son.
Success is already achieved.
