**Trusting the Sea Within: My Journey to Unleashing Intuition**

Hello everyone, Ray Yenkana here. If you were to flip through the pages of my personal notebook—a little collection of thoughts I affectionately call “Ray’s Brain”—you would see that I have been on a profound journey of self-discovery lately.

I’ve been diving deep into the silent, invisible power that guides our lives. Today, I want to talk to you about **intuition.**

We live in a world overflowing with data, consuming the equivalent of 16 hard drives of information every single day. It is incredibly easy to get lost in that noise.

But recently, I made a conscious choice to step back, connect with, and rely heavily on my own inner voice. Here is what this incredible stretch of growth has taught me.

**What I Liked About Learning to Connect With My Intuition**

What I loved most about this journey was realizing that **intuition is not just an accident; it is a higher mental faculty that we can strengthen by design.**

For the longest time, I thought of gut feelings as mere coincidence. But I was blown away when I learned about the beautiful Icelandic concept of *innsaei,* which translates to “the sea within.” It refers to the ever-flowing unconscious mind.

I absolutely loved discovering that intuition is fundamental to our intelligence. It unconsciously processes a massive amount of sensory data that our highly focused conscious mind simply cannot grasp.

It isn’t some irrational “woo-woo” concept; it is the very mechanism that helps us “read the room,” generate creative insights, and tune into the world around us.

Knowing that my brain is constantly working on this profound, nonconscious level gave me a newfound respect for my own internal compass.

**What I Learned From This Stretch**

During this period of research and reflection, I learned the actual science behind how our brains operate.

I learned about the two operating systems in our brain: System 1 (our fast, subconscious, intuitive thinking) and System 2 (our slower, analytical, logical reasoning). It turns out that **our intuitive System 1 often knows the right answer long before our logical System 2 catches up.**

In fact, studies show that people who make quick, intuitive decisions about complex purchases like buying a car are satisfied 60% of the time, compared to a mere 25% satisfaction rate for those who overthink it.

I also learned that there are specific rules for when *not* to use intuition. I learned that you should never rely on it when you are highly emotional, or when dealing with probabilities, or in unfamiliar environments.

Furthermore, intuition shouldn’t be confused with primal urges or addictions. **True intuition gets deeper and more accurate only with genuine experience and expertise.** If you don’t have experience in something, it is better to fall back on logic.

**The Changes I Will Make in My Life**

Moving forward, the application of engaging with my intuition will completely change how I operate daily. First, **I am committing to a 30-day intuition test.**

I will keep a journal of every time I get a “funny feeling,” write down the exact circumstances, and then review the outcomes to see how accurate my gut truly is.

I am also going to start “attention journaling” to document exactly how I pay attention to the world, which will help me witness how *innsaei* plays a role in my daily life.

Additionally, I am changing how I interact with people. If you want to feel the energy of others, you have to give them your undivided attention. From now on, I will practice listening not just with my ears, but with my emotions.

By becoming emotionally involved in what others are saying, I will be able to feel their energy and use my intuition to genuinely connect with them.

**What I Will Teach Others About This Concept**

I want to teach everyone that **intuition must be trained exactly like a muscle.** The more you dare to use it, the stronger and more accurate it becomes. I will teach others the three essential steps to developing this power:

1. **Find clarity in your mind:** You must distance yourself from external information to sense how you really feel.

2. **Be honest with yourself:** If you aren’t truthful about what you really want, you will hear everyone else’s voice instead of your own inner voice.

3. **Take action:** Practice using it in your daily life to build that emotional memory.

I will also share a sobering truth I learned: a palliative care nurse found that the number one regret of the dying is that they lacked the courage to live a life true to themselves, opting instead to live according to the expectations of others.

I will teach people that tuning into their intuition is the key to finding that courage.

**What I Will Always Remember**

As I apply this to the rest of my life, there is one profound truth I will never forget: **every time you ask a question, the answer comes with it.** They are born at the same moment. It is simply our intuitive mind’s job to pick that answer up.

I will always remember that intuition is perfect and it never lies. Some even believe that intuition is God’s way of talking to us. Whether you view it scientifically or spiritually, it is a silent intelligence that we must protect and trust.

I will spend the rest of my life navigating my personal ocean from the inside out, guided by the sea within.

Stay intuitive,

  • What an interesting look at intuition, Ray. Thank you! I never considered that intuition could be distorted by strong emotions or addictions, but that makes sense. Clear your mind in all ways to listen to the intuition and hear the messages from a higher power – awesome!
