Ray’s Week 1 Blog. As soon as I started this course, I realized there would be a lot of repetition. I’ve done similar courses where in order to build a new program, in your mind, you have to repeat certain things over & over.
The first challenge with this course is learning to navigate around the web site & the software which I haven’t mastered yet.
The second thing is to keep up with the assignments.
So far, I’m keeping up with the reading of The Greatest Salesman in the World. That book has been one of my favourites for over 35 years.
The first time I read that book I was just getting going in my real estate sales business & what I learned from the book then, helped me to become one of the top agents in my area.
Going back & studying this book in this group, I’m sure will open new experiences & insights.
I submitted my DMP yesterday but it’s just my current DMP as I need to stay focused on recovering my health. That said, there’s more that will come out in my DMP as I think long term.
What I like about the course so far, is that it will force me to focus on my DMP & drive it deep into my subconscious.
I’ve identified my DMP in the past, several times, and it has always proven to be a driving force towards an accomplishment.
I’ve thought about other people who it was obvious that they had a DMP. One such person is well known, the author JK Rowlings.
It was obvious that she had a DMP to write the books that she’s written and she’s also a perfect example of the person who chipped away the concrete from the Golden Buddha.
The video of the Golden Buddha is a powerful illustration that helps us understand that everyone has greatness within them, but it’s covered over with the concrete of programming from parents, teachers, society and it takes effort to chip it off and find what your DMP is.
I think as people discover their DMP and focus on it, all the things that they want could be attracted to them.
I connected with my guide or mentor and I know, having someone who has been ahead of me makes it easier to learn and implement.
I’ve experienced mentorship in a number of areas and what would take much longer to learn. On my own, I learned quicker with a mentor. I think that is probably true for most of us.
An example of good mentorship was learning a particular type of spin casting in a fast flowing river in order to catch sockeye salmon going upstream. My friend Carl, gave me a couple of demonstrations which involved casting but casting upstream.
The line has at least a 2-3 oz. Weight on the end & the crucial part of the casting process is to watch for when the weight hits the water which is likely close to 100 meters away from where I am standing and to then stop the reel from turning by sticking my thumb on the line in the reel.
It’s a split second decision in the series of a number of actions & there’s no room for error.
If you get it wrong the weight on the line will cause the line in the reel to become seriously tangled. We refer to that as a “bird’s nest”.
Having a mentor to walk me through these steps enabled me to learn the process in literally just a few minutes. I’ve watched many fishermen trying to learn this process without a mentor and after several “bird nests” they become frustrated & quit! I’ve even seen some of them break their rods & go home.
I’m looking forward to working through the program, having a guide so I don’t get frustrated and quit.
I know we were told we need about one hour per day to keep up with the work, however, like anything worthwhile, it’s uphill and the first week maybe the toughest so I’m hanging in trying to get it done and hopefully I can learn the MKE.

I love the Golden Buddha, it resonates so well. WOW, 35 years with the greatest salesman…the tid bits you must have squirrelled away!!! I am excited to be on this journey with you Ray
What a powerful blog to start this course with Ray.
Great insight, thank you!
Welcome, Ray. Great job on your first blog and sharing your awarenesses as well as that great example of the usefulness of a Guide/mentor in your fishing experience. I am glad you are open for the amazement of the moment when time starts flowing like that river and you’re successfully casting and catching…
Well done, Ray. I really enjoyed the fishing story! Welcome to the Master Key Experience!
