Week 17HJ – Miracle in the Mirror
The Miracle in the Mirror: My 37-Year Journey with Scroll IV
I’ve been sitting with my copy of The Greatest Salesman in the World this week, thinking back to the first time I cracked it open about 37 years ago. At that time, I was just getting my feet wet in the real estate business.
I had a lot of ambition, but I was also dealing with the same “concrete” we all have—that layer of programming from society and teachers that tells us we’re just another face in the crowd.
Then I hit The Scroll Marked IV.
It’s funny how a single sentence can change the trajectory of your entire life. The scroll starts with a bold declaration: “I am nature’s greatest miracle”. When I first read that nearly four decades ago, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I realized that since the beginning of time, there has never been another with my mind, my heart, my eyes, or my hands. I decided right then and there that I was a unique creation.
Capitalizing on the Difference
In the real estate world, it’s easy to try to be like the “top producer” in the office. We try to copy their scripts, their walk, and their style. But Scroll IV taught me that vain attempts to imitate others no longer will I make.
Instead, I learned to place my uniqueness on display in the market place.
I realized that none can duplicate my brush strokes, none can duplicate my handwriting, and most importantly, none has the ability to sell exactly as I.
Once I accepted that I was a “rare creature” and that there is value in all rarity, my perspective shifted. I stopped trying to be a second-rate version of someone else and started being a first-rate version of Ray Yenkana.
I decided I would be the greatest salesman in my area. I didn’t just wish for it; I proceeded to work a plan of action to arrive at that goal. I realized that if I was better equipped in mind and body than all the emperors and wise men who preceded me, then failing to use those gifts would be a crime.
Programming “Subby” for Success
As I allowed the thoughts and ideas from this scroll to get into my subconscious—or “subby,” as I like to call it—the magic started to happen. You see, subby is the engine that drives us. It doesn’t know the difference between what is vividly imagined and what is real.
By repeating the words of Scroll IV daily, I was feeding my subconscious a new program. I was telling my inner engine that I was here for a purpose and that purpose was to grow into a mountain, not to shrink into a grain of sand.
I began to automatically do the work required to accomplish my goals. My behavior started to align with my Definite Major Purpose (DMP) because I had rewired my mind.
I found myself straining my potential until it cried for mercy, not because I was forcing it, but because the “miracle which produced me” didn’t end with my birth—it was intended to extend to my deeds of today.
The work became automatic. I was no longer a “sheep waiting to be prodded”; I was a lion in my own right.
Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
The theme that has stayed with me all these years is that each of us is “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That’s a discovery every person must make for themselves.
It’s like the Golden Buddha illustration I love to share—the greatness is already inside you, but you have to chip away at the mud and concrete to see it.
If I can encourage anyone reading this, it’s to stop looking at your similarities to others and start accenting your differences. Nature doesn’t know defeat. Eventually, she emerges victorious, and so will you if you recognize the miracle that you are.
I’ve learned over the years that while the climb is always uphill, the view from the top is only available to those who realize they aren’t on this earth by chance. You are here for a purpose.
Whether you’re facing health challenges, business hurdles, or personal struggles, remember that you are the end product of thousands of years of evolution and you have the power to surpass any deed you performed yesterday.
My Fulfillment
My life is more fulfilled today because I chose to believe the message of the fourth scroll 37 years ago. It helped me become a top agent, and it continues to help me today as I stay focused on recovering my health.
I’m using these same principles to write a program for my recovery, letting “subby” work on a mini-miracle that might even surprise my health advisors.
Don’t be fooled by the “garments” of others or the perceived successes of your competitors. Look beyond the cloth. You have a flame burning within you that has been passed down through uncounted generations.
Fan that flame. Proclaim your uniqueness to the world.
I am fully in till the change comes about, and I hope you are too. Remember, you are nature’s greatest miracle.
(To really get this into your subby, think of it like this: If you were given a one-of-a-kind, priceless supercar, you wouldn’t drive it like a beat-up tractor. You are that supercar. Scroll IV is the owner’s manual that tells you how much horsepower you actually have under the hood. Stop driving through life in first gear. You were made for the mountain, not the sand.)

OMG, Ray, I need to read your post Today! The words ” Fan that flame. Proclaim your uniqueness to the world.” I feel renewed and ignited, thank you!
Ray, you swung for the fences to use a baseball analogy. It’s a grand slam with me. Job well done!
Thank you Ray; “start accenting your differences” and the rest, captured my attention as well. I wish you the best in your health journey.
Powerful Ray. In fact 💥BOOM💥
Thirty-seven years later, Scroll IV is still proving its truth: the miracle didn’t end at birth—it was meant to show up in all that you do.
Amazing HJ!
The moment you stopped imitating and chose to be a first-rate YOU everything aligned—work, purpose, momentum.
Love the analogy of the supercar – stop driving through life in first gear ♥ Yeah… how often I’ve done that.
Pure fuel! Your message to “accent our differences” and realize we’re “here for a purpose” has reignited my focus. No more first gear! I’m grabbing that owner’s manual (Scroll IV) and heading for the mountain. Thank you for the kick in the pants, Ray! 💪🔥
That is a fantastic comment about a fantastic blog – I’m with you the combination is so powerful 💥
Me too Loren this is an amazing read!
This is a marvelous read Ray. Mahalo for sharing these insights and growth! I used this very sentence this time around to write on the first page of Scroll 5 – I learned to place my uniqueness on display in the market place. I love that sentence and I’m living it now!
Ray, I agree completely with Arlene. Good show!!!!
Wow, Ray! You have combined Scroll IV and the Hero’s Journey beautifully! I am so inspired as I read this. Well done!
