MKE Week 17HJ – Proof in The Middle

minutes remaining

This week did not feel heroic. There was no parade, no big “Ta-Da.” It was errands, grocery stores, conversations, and choosing not to quit on myself when it would’ve been easy to mentally check out.

That’s the part of the Hero’s Journey people skip over – the middle. The part where you’re not lost anymore, but you’re not “there” yet either.

I saw it show up in small ways. Adapting when Trader Joe’s was out of what I planned to buy. Staying calm instead of irritated, Taking action and starting a conversation at Big Y that turned into an interview.

Helping someone else even when my own situation was not great. And then a $600 check lands exactly when it needed to – not as luck, but as confirmation.

Nothing flashy. Just Self-Command.

What I am learning is that leadership doesn’t always look like confidence from the outside. Sometimes it looks like discipline when no one’s watching. Sometimes it looks like keeping promises to yourself. Sometimes it is choosing to stay engaged with life instead of retreating.

This week reminded me that the hero isn’t the guy who waits for conditions to improve. The hero is the one who improves his conditions by how he shows up. I’m not finished. I’m not “done.”

But I am becoming unmistakably myself. And that’s enough proof to keep me moving forward.

That’s All I Got!

  • Todd, you not feeling heroic?? Nooo 😄
You chose calm, you helped someone else even while carrying your own load. That’s real Self-Command, the kind that actually changes things.
That $600? A little wink from life saying, ‘yes, you’re aligned, keep going.’
You’re showing up as yourself, consistently and honestly, and that’s more than enough proof you’re on the right path. One steady happy step at a time 😊

  • Powerful stuff, my friend. You reframed leadership from external confidence to internal Self-Command. That $600 check isn’t luck—it’s a receipt. Keep showing up. 💪💰
