Week 5 Press Release: Community United for the Greater Good
“A world divided where everyone is fighting and no one knows why”
The solution is always one thought away nestled inside the one created to solve the problem. Helping one another to help each other to help us all!
People say you can’t save the world but one did just that “He literally saved the world” and if each of us take a small, good measure of ourselves and give it away to someone else every day, collectively we become one and we and the world are benefactors of our efforts.
Relaxing one morning after a mentoring session at my favorite Cracker Barrell, partaking of Uncle Hershel’s famous buttermilk pancakes. I noticed Mr. Archie Snowden of NEWS 19 TV walking towards my table. I nodded and waved acknowledging him and continued to enjoy my quiet breakfast.
He approached and asked if he could join me. I was surprised and said yes, please have a seat. Sir, may I offer you breakfast, this buttermilk pancake will start your morning right.
He smiled and said thank you maybe next time. But, may I ask a few questions while you enjoy your breakfast? Of course, go ahead and excuse me because I like my pancakes, hot they taste better.
Mr. Snowden: I’ve seen you at Town hall meetings, Community meetings, the Richard Showers Center, City Civic events and School board meetings and in most settings, you often engage in the discussions.
Roosevelt: Mr. Snowden, look at how people rush past each other without a glance. One small act can change everything.
Twenty-five years ago, I had a burning fire inside me to become that small act that would change everything. I devoted the greatest commodity I had to give “Time” layered with mentoring, ministry and a lot of prayers (laugher).
I just knew growing up in the south where everybody speaks, takes a minute to greet and go their separate ways.
The atmosphere was charged with joy, happiness and love, then you ran into someone else that wasn’t having a good start to the day, and you gave them something to smile about and perhaps even laugh about and you made their day better if only for that moment.
Heartwarming moments were volunteering at shelters, friends supporting each other, a community coming together after a storm. The power of kindness when we help others, we help ourselves. Laughter, tears, hands reaching out lives transformed. Together we can make a better world, and it can be much brighter.
“When we choose to help, hope finds a way.”
Mr. Snowden: Thank you for your time and please accept my apologies for interrupting your breakfast.
Roosevelt: Mr. Snowden, thank you sir, for joining me this morning, you never know what blessings will come your way and your presence today was my blessing “you will reap what you sow sir” . be prepared to receive your blessing Mr. Snowden. Good day!
“Inspired by true stories”
“This fall, discover the power of kindness”
“Will you choose to help?”

This is truly inspiring Roosevelt! Your story beautifully shows how one person’s consistent acts of kindness, presence, and service ripple out to transform lives and communities. It’s a powerful reminder that change starts small—one thoughtful word, one helping hand, one smile at a time—and that generosity of heart always comes back in ways we never expect. Keep sowing those seeds; the world needs more of your light.
Roosevelt you are really good at setting a precedent and setting with your writing. It is like I am sitting beside you both. You will change the world, and definitely those you come in contact with…start that ripple outward that we have no idea where it goes.
Thank you Roosevelt. One small act can change everything. :pve those pancakes!
Well done, Roosevelt! You kind spirit shines through!
