At first, repeating “Do it now” 25xs twice a day seemed exceedingly childish and weird, but since I committed 100% to this course I continued repeating every morning and afternoon while counting to 25 with my fingers.

The first change I noticed was a natural reduction in my tendency to procrastinate…with things that have nothing to do with this course or my DMP goals.

It was a particular language-learning speaking practice exercise that I often would skip saying to myself, “Well, I’m tired tonight and since I’ve missed so many days, I’ll just start back up tomorrow.”

And then one night, I just said, Oh let’s just do it! Not only that, but I enjoyed the practice too! Previously I would often avoid this exercise because it is exceptionally uncomfortable as a beginner.

Finding words that I actually know that will communicate the things I’d like to say is very difficult when your only known words are coming from a very small pool. It requires one to take risk and just say it anyway, even when you know the grammar is likely wrong.

For the record, I’m a red and I hate being wrong. So language learning has been really challenging.

Because I want to avoid feeling wrong, I often skip the speaking practice. But recently, I just did it anyway. There was no resistance. I had a brief thought about procrastinating and putting it off one more day, but then I just did it. Effortlessly. And I enjoyed it!

How did that happen?

Well, I’m sure repeating “do it now” is impacting my daily life and it showed up again today.

Another meaningless task that had been left undone (If you really want to know, it was washing 4 golf balls that I recovered from the golf course. Yes, only 4). They had sat on the counter for days… waiting for a bath, lol.

I looked at them and thought, oh I’ll do them later, but then suddenly I found myself picking them up and brushing the dirt off them. Before I knew it, they were done.

There it was again – effortlessly.

Well I gotta tell you – I cannot wait til effortless shows up in other areas of my life. And of course, it help me to stay true to the practices of each week – repeating note cards, noticing shapes and colors, doing everything with GUSTO.
