The week we were given the assignment to acquire a compass, I walked into Walmart, opened the store app, and searched for “compass.” It directed me to an aisle in the sports and outdoor department.
There I found a very reasonably priced four-function device for less than $4 USD.
Very pleased with my purchase, I fastened the attached clip on the metal ring of my purse strap, figuring that would be the best way to keep it with me and see it regularly.
You see, this device has more than just a compass.
On the back is a thermometer. Not only does that enable me to determine the temperature wherever I am, it also reminds me that I have the ability to choose my own temperament.
I can allow myself to get heated up when someone makes a snarky comment about me, or I can choose to stay cool and collected regardless of the situation.
There is a little clear piece of plastic that tucks inside the device and swivels out with a bit of effort. The center of it is a magnifying glass.
This reminds me of the power of focus and to make sure to keep my focus on the areas of my life that I want to warm up and bring to life.
At the bottom of the device, there is a whistle. This reminds me that I am not alone and anytime I need assistance, I can call for help from my tribe.
I went searching for a simple compass, but I gained so much more.
