I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, and happy. Yes, I am and my brain is listening.
I used to think that affirmations didn’t make any difference or that we were affirming what we wanted, but didn’t have. But what I’ve been learning Is that affirmations make a huge difference.
What matters even more than affirmations is positive self-talk. What we say to ourselves on an ongoing basis is very powerful.
The more I learn about neuroplasticity the more fascinating it becomes and the more I learn about neuroplasticity the more vigilant I am about what I say to myself.
“From a neuropsychological perspective, self-talk is closely linked to the brain’s ability to reorganize itself through neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s capacity to form new neural connections and rewire existing ones based on experiences and thoughts. Positive self-talk activates regions of the brain associated with self-regulation, emotional processing, and reward, particularly areas in the prefrontal cortex involved in self-referential processing.”

There is scientific proof that what we say influences our mind, our body and our health. I would’ve never guessed that what I say to myself affects how my body heals. I thought all that affirmation stuff was just about my mental health, but not my physical body.
Saw a story of a woman who started to get better when she stopped fighting against her body and began to acknowledge it for taking care of her.
Wow! That reminds me to thank my body on an ongoing basis and be grateful for my health as well as the material things in my life.
Most importantly, I now see that the Mental Diet applies to what I say to myself, as well as how I react to things external to me. Looks like a great reason to keep doing it forever.

It is a great reason to keep doing the Mental Diet forever!
Susan, what great energy and conviction come across in your post. I especially love that you point to this science: “the brain’s ability to reorganize”. How fortunate we are, right?, to learn and deepen this in MKE?
It is a great reason Susan! Thank you!
Exactly, Susan! It’s like speaking to a child, our ‘inner child.’ Children flourish and grow when they receive love, joy, and appreciation, not criticism. And the same is true for us adults…
“Thanking my body for taking care of me”—what a beautiful and profound shift in perspective. This post was a wonderful reminder that the work is holistic, healing both mind and body. Thank you, Susan.
