I am learning the distinction between “Do It Now” and “Get it Done”. Do it Now is always in the present – it forever fulfills this moment, right now. Get it Done is insatiable, forever seeking some future imaginary point when all will be accomplished.
I have struggled a long time with the “Get it Done” mentality. Once one thing is done there is always another waiting. I imagine my house perfectly clean and tidy – everything in its spot.
I forget to live in the often messy moment of right now because I’m pining for some unrealistic expectation of everything done: emails answered, books read, house cleaned, projects completed, skills perfected, website updated, laundry folded…
The list goes on and on and this mentality leaves me feeling like I am always falling short.
“Do it Now” is simply one step at a time, right now – and again right now. It is knowing that I persist each moment, that I stay in action to achieve my goals.
When I look back on the last 11 weeks I recognize that “Do it Now” has gotten me farther along my path than the past years and years of “Get it Done.”

I like this perspective, Amy. A small distinction, but important!
