One of the most important ideas from Week One is the concept that “thought is energy.” As a novice exploring this, it’s a little mind-blowing to realize that the quiet thoughts running in the background of my mind are actually shaping my experiences in the real world.
I never paid much attention to how my thoughts worked before reading this lesson. Haanel explains that thinking isn’t just something that happens — he says it’s the start of creation itself. If I want to change my life or solve problems, I first need to understand how to purposely direct my own thinking.
He also points out that most people just drift through life, letting outside events and influences control what goes on in their minds. Haanel challenges us to “train our brain” so our thoughts become more positive and intentional.
Honestly, this makes sense. When I let my mind wander to worries, I notice my day just feels heavier. But if I consciously focus on something good, small or big, things almost always go a little smoother.
Learning that my mind has “creative power” really opens up new possibilities for me. It’s a huge responsibility, but also exciting to think I can slowly build the habit of thinking better — and maybe create a better reality along the way.

Kevin, I really enjoyed your blog. I look forward to more of your insights. Thank you for sharing.
These are wonderful realizations and observations Kevin!
Haanel is amazing. I read it every year. This is my 11th year and I still say wow. The mind is so powerful and we can do anything we want. I can’t wait to hear your take on Chapter 2.
Haanel is such a thought provoker. Well done Kevin for the willingness to always go deeper into contemplation of how you can harness your creative power.
It’s great to see you here, Kevin! I love your reminder to our Master Mind here: “it’s a little mind-blowing to realize that the quiet thoughts running in the background of my mind are actually shaping my experiences in the real world.” Jump into your imagination, your dream, pull out a chair, explore what’s in the drawers!
Well done, Kevin! You are discovering the power of thought – yay!
