This week hurts. I see along with the rest of the world how divided we are and in a supposed Special Time for our country. So much of our culture is built on what “I can get” and that gets politicized to what “we can get”.
This presupposes that we lack and that is counter to what we are learning here and the world needs.
People are being vilified for “standing up” for others. It is not radical. It is not left or right. It is “correct” in the world where we live until it is corrupted by the “machine.”
I had the opportunity to read my Junior High Diploma which I got in June of 1976. Weeks later, we celebrated America 200.
The included printed copies of that Declaration of Independence and The US Constitution and having read it again I realize how far we have fallen.
Regardless of our transgressions against these documents my mind is focused on the closing passage that reads “With a firm reliance on Divine providence we pledge to each other our lives , our hearts and our sacred honor. “
You can’t be an Upstander without giving. Be an upstander.
