MKE Week 10 – A New Persistence

As we entire Week 10, I am on a cruise – a 12-day cruise.

This is not the first time I have had to travel while doing the Master Key Experience (MKE). But it is the first time I am on vacation traveling, so it’s a very different thing.

Before leaving my house, I prepared all my items. I grabbed 4 of my color charts (the 4 shapes with one blank on each one), I took 2 notecards with my dream board on the back, a copy of Gal in the Glass, my books and lessons, and a few spare note cards and blank paper. I was prepared.

To be honest, I think it is the daily readings of the MK that is impacting my determination. I have been faithful to do my readings and I actually think about the things I read. In fact, because I have the time available, I read the entire MK lesson every day.

Well, yes, I have missed some along the way, but my point is that I decided not to skim over the reading, speed read it, or simply do the questions – I am reading it every day.

This has helped the content stick in my head a bit, and every time I am tempted to not complete an exercise or to welcome an excuse, I make myself think about the readings.

We are on Day 4 of vacation and I continue reading Gal in the Glass at the end of each day, smiling at myself, affirming my love and feeling quite satisfied with my imperfect commitment to my future. Most certainly imperfect.

I’ve already missed some exercises, but I choose to focus on all the exercises that I am getting done…even while on vacation…even while traveling with 3 people who are not in MKE…even while not feeling 100% healthy. I can honestly say I am doing my best! And that feels good.

I love the Greatest Salesman reading this month – we just moved to Scroll 3. “I will persist until I succeed.” I feel like I am living that right now, because to be honest, it has already required preparation and sacrifice for me to do any exercises while on vacation.

I am so determined that I am willing to set aside time to “practice”, read and think even while on vacation. I will persist and I will succeed.

  • Amy, your determination and thoughtful preparation really stood out! I admire how you stay persistent even on vacation — that focus and commitment is powerful and inspiring. You’re clearly building leadership strength through action!

  • It’s great that you’re doing s much as you are able to while cruising Amy! That’s encouraging for me!

  • “Amy, this is such an inspiring read! Traveling—especially on a vacation with others not in the MKE—can be such a test of commitment, and you’re absolutely passing. Your preparation was brilliant, and the decision to read the lessons fully, not skim, is where the real magic happens. ‘Imperfect commitment’ is such a powerful and honest way to frame it. Celebrating what you are doing instead of fixating on slips is the heart of persistence. Scroll III couldn’t have come at a better time. Keep smiling at your reflection—you’re doing the work, and it shows. Enjoy the cruise and your well-earned sense of determination!”

  • Well done, Amy! I am impressed that you are persisting during your cruise. Make sure you take time to enjoy and re-charge as well!
