I recently started making sourdough bread again. I love baking bread and have had some success with sourdough. I was gifted a starter so I’ve embarked on sourdough baking again.
The process of making sourdough is quite different from baking yeast bread. Yeast bread requires buying a package of active rise yeast, a lot of kneading to get the gluten to develop, and only an hour or so for each rise before baking.
A successful sourdough loaf requires no kneading, just a little stretching of the dough. The entire process is slower but far less labor intensive. What is required is a well-developed starter. In order to achieve this, you need to regularly feed your starter, keeping it nice and active and bubbly.
This reminded me of the habits I’m building through MKE. The feeding of the leaven of my success comes through the daily exercises, readings. If these are regularly attended to then there is very little effort needed to work.
I often struggle with consistency in my life. I realize that through patience and regular practice I can rise to achieve my life’s purpose. There’s no shortcut to this kind of success. I’m off to do my readings and keep my self-starter active and bubbly!

What a fantastic comparison, Amy! Keeping the “starter” of our minds active through daily readings is the key. Thanks for the inspiring and delicious reminder! ✨
What a great comparison! I love sourdough bread but have never taken the time to make my own – congratulations!
