MKE Week 11 – Making a Difference
Since I was young, I’ve had a dream of making a difference in the world. What I have realized through the years is that occurs one person at a time.
- Showing kindness to the older man who has no other friends
- Giving a ride to someone who has been having to walk to church
- Giving a $5 bill as a gift to the fast food worker at the drive through window
- Saying an encouraging word to a waitperson who is stressed and trying to keep it all together
If we treat someone how they treat us, well, that is just a reaction or response based on their words and actions.
If we meet someone and show them that they are important, they are seen, and they matter in the world, then we are acting from our character, and that’s what makes a real difference in the world.

You are so right. Yes, if we treat others based on how they treat us, that is just a response/reaction to their action, but to treat others with love, respect and kindness regardless of who or what they have done, that takes a bigger heart, which you have. You are an example for others, thank you.
Thank you Darnelle. You do make a difference
Wow, Darnelle. This is very sage advice. So glad you put it out there to share!
“Acting from our character.”That’s the key sentence for me. This is a profound and practical guide to a life that matters. Powerful stuff.
Beautifully said, Darnelle! Those small acts of kindness could mean the world to someone who is having a bad day, or someone struggling.
