Focusing Your Mind
One of my favorite ideas from this lesson is that “thought concentrated on a definite purpose becomes power”. As someone new to these teachings, I’d always assumed thinking about something was the same as acting on it.
Haanel reveals that when we truly focus—when our mind isn’t jumping around but stays fixed on one purpose—we tap into a whole new level of effectiveness.
Haanel explains the difference between the conscious mind (the part that reasons and makes choices) and the subby (the part that handles habits, instincts, and automatic body functions).
We can impress ideas from our conscious mind into the subconscious, and when those ideas harmonize with universal laws, everything starts moving toward our goal in unseen ways.
Starting to pay attention to what I focus on has shown me just how scattered my mind is. Lesson Two encourages each of us to aim our thoughts like a laser, not a flashlight, and promises that the more we do this, the more we’ll see our life start to shift.
For a beginner like me, it’s both a challenge and an opportunity I never really considered before.

Kevin, I appreciated how you showed the clear difference between unfocused thought and the power of a focused mind. Thank you for this inspiring reminder.
Well done, Kevin! Yes, finding that focus can be difficult, but so worth it!
