Week 11 MKE – Like Attracts Like, Opposites Repel

As I read The Master Key part 11, a quote from the very first page resonated with me in a particular way.

“We frequently hear it said, ‘A very distressing situation came into my life, which could not have been the result of my thought, as I certainly never entertained any thoughts which could have such a result.’ We fail to remember that like attracts like in the mental world, and that the thought which we entertain brings to us certain friendships, companionships of a particular kind, and these in turn bring about conditions and environment, which in turn are responsible for the conditions of which we complain.”

This caused me to remember the unpleasant feeling I had within me while conversing with a family member at a recent event. Actually, I was a little shocked with the depth of negativity that came out of this person’s mouth. In fact, shortly after beginning a conversation with this person I was looking for an easy exit, anything to get me away from this person.

As I read the quote from the intro of MK Part 11, I think that if like attracts like, then it seems that opposites would repel.

I have experienced this “repelling” in the past specifically in relationships where people simply talked about gossip. It was not just boring, but repulsive, and even caused a relationship to discretely end.

I felt a similar disgust when I clearly saw the negative mindset in this family member. In this case, I cannot end the relationship, however I will be very careful in my interaction with this person in the future. The Watchman at the Gate awakens!

Between this week’s webinar and the reading, the clarity I have regarding the importance of guarding my mind is incredible. Guarding my mind often includes guarding who I choose to spend time with and what I do with my time.
